Now take that one person, and the number of arrowheads he would have made and used during his lifetime, and multiply that by the millions of people that inhabited the continent at that time. If they didn’t hunt and gather, they didn’t eat. In combination with gathering various grown foods, animals were also hunted for consumption, which would have required a very large number of arrowheads. In addition, remember that every day existence relied heavily on these stone tools. Especially knowing that they began making projectile points as young children. Now, if the average life expectancy of prehistoric Native Americans was, for example 40-45 years, just think about how many arrowheads and spear tips that one person would have made in his lifetime. But consider this recent scientific evidence has shown that humans inhabited North America as far back as 130,000 years ago. “There is no way to know exactly how many arrowheads are still out there waiting to be found. I find everybody around me to be very helpful. Instead, I have decided to ask others for help when I need it. More recently, I have given up on trying to rely on the memory mechanism in my brain for retaining and recalling people’s faces. I think the ability to recognize people’s faces is peculiar. Incidentally, I stopped watching television shows because I could no longer distinguish actors’ faces.*2 However, I found something interesting the other day: I can distinguish animated characters easily. However, I eventually gave up because I realized that the faces in the pictures that I remembered and the faces of the real people in front of me did not match up.*2 I think I perceive two-dimensional faces in pictures and real, three-dimensional faces somewhat differently. I created a list of names with pictures and looked at it all the time. I used to try to remember at least the faces of my customers, friends I see regularly, and my family. However, judging from the looks that they gave me, I obviously did not.*2 (They probably thought I was flirting with them!) Somewhat conversely, I have casually started talking to people passing by in the street, thinking I knew them. It is sad, but it does not mean my fond memories of spending time with them have faded away. In addition to colleagues at work, I have become unable to mentally recall the faces of my family, with whom I have spent years, or the faces of old friends.*1 When I do not recognize the face of someone talking to me, I gradually remind myself of the nature of our relationship from the content of the conversation. When I am looking for someone at work and cannot identify them by their face, I ask colleagues sitting nearby for help. That means I at least did not come across as rude. At the same time, I was relieved because my colleague thought the president and I were enjoying a conversation. Only then did I realize the man I met was the company president whom I had known for a long time.īased on our conversation, I could guess that the man probably worked for the same company as I, but his face did not tell me who he was.*1 I was really surprised when I finally found out. Later in the day, a colleague told me that he saw me enjoying a conversation with the president. I said hello with a smile, thinking that he was a very friendly man. On another occasion, a stranger talked to me from behind on my way to the office. Then, in the reception area, I found that I couldn’t tell which person was my customer – someone I already knew well.*1 I went down to the reception desk after a receptionist called and told me that my customer had arrived. However, when I was at the office, something even stranger happened to me. At work, I am sure you have experienced the feeling you have met the person standing in front of you but could not remember his or her name at all. People often talk about being good or not so good at remembering faces or names. Instead, they tell each other apart and connect with one another through the sounds of their voices, the appearance of their physiques, and, most importantly, by sharing cherished memories. They even have trouble telling themselves apart from each other. It takes away who you used to be.Here in the Dementia World, there is a place called the “Village of the Faceless Tribe.” The villagers there have faces that look very much alike, making it impossible to tell them apart. You see a person Watching, waiting, Not looking at anything Just staring You walk around their side And you see No eyes No nose No mouth You pull back in horror "A person with no face! " They turn to look at you And pass their hand over their face Showing you a smile Eyes And nose But it doesn't move And you know it isn't real As they turn back into their Faceless self You know what you saw Isn't real But the figure starts speaking You hear it in your head A low, raspy whisper, "This is what I have become I was happy, carefree, joyful But now I am nothing A faceless figure Don't you recognize me? " You stare at them in shock They do look familiar But you cannot place Where you've met them before They hold up a mirror And you look at yourself That smile It's yours That face It's yours That happiness It's yours But you're shocked "How is this me? " And the figure speaks and says, "This is depression It not only takes happiness. The design for this show was absolutely spectacular. The chorus was equally thrilling and brought a beautiful liveliness to the atmosphere of the show. For an academic setting, this absolutely was a great choice! The arias were beautifully performed in the original French, with phenomenal, stand-out performances by Tyrese Byrd (Arsteus/Pluto), Jack Morrin (Jupiter), Sohyun Cho (Eurydice), and Veronica Koz (Cupid). Since many of the performers were native English speakers, it was much easier to make conscious acting choices since they’re not dealing with the French diction. I came into the performance skeptical of this method for continuity’s sake but left the theater totally agreeing with the decision for a predominantly English-speaking audience. This opera is conventionally all performed in French, but for this version, all the dialogue was performed in English with arias performed in French. In the score, it is called the “Galop infernal,” roughly translating to “the hellish gallop”, as they famously kickline in Hades’ Underworld. You may be familiar with the famously known and cheekiest song from the opera, the “can can”, that is often used in pop-culture. Orphée aux enfers is a French-language opera composed by Jacques Offenbach with a libretto by Hector Crémieux and Ludovic Halévy (English translation by Jeremy Sams). If opera-singing and can-can dancing Greek gods are an interest of yours- this opera is for you! It teases out the subtleties and complexities within the upper echelons of society, a world painted in various shades of grey.” (I don’t think I could give a more brilliant explanation if I tried!) I thoroughly enjoyed this opera and thought it was a refreshing choice after last season’s close with Don Giovanni by W.A. Director Mo Zhou brilliantly stated: “ is a mirror that reflects not only the capricious antics of the deities but also our contemporary world. This whimsical satire is accompianed with fanciful costumes, a wholly creative set, and an ingenious allegory about the nature of capitalism. This runs for one weekend only, so get your tickets soon! Of the many versions of Orpheus and Eurydice’s tragic tale, this reigns the goofiest production thus far. Orpheus in the Underworld (translated title) marks the premiere opera this season for the School of Music, Theater, and Dance’s vocal department at the Power Center for the Performing Arts. Next, go through the door at #7, by breaking it down with a pickaxe. Your goal is to use the winch which rises one grate of the three-layered gate. To cross the spike trap, you'll have to use levitation and to pick up the items on that floor, you can disable it with the lever on the other side. This will grant you the region map of the place. After two sarcophagi, continue to the room with four brontoks and read the map column there. Clear the undeads first and head that way. Once down there, you'll see a fiery chasm on one side, a few undead warriors on the opposite side and a closed grate. There are several things to do here, but the first one is to check out the area below trapdoor. The next room has two undead warriors, a trapdoor, a grate to the left and a door that periodically elevates at the other side. Blow the magic barrier and continue further inside.Īfter passing the barrier, jump over the ruined stairset and then jump once more over the trap. Explore the other corners of the room, though there's not much to be found. Near the pillar to the right on the opposite side, there's a berserker sword (a nice two-handed sword that deals 80 damage). The passage further right leads you back to the waterfall, while climbing up to the ruined floor (where the ghouls are) takes you into the hidden temple.įor navigation purposes, take the blue barrier as a point of reference. Kill it and continue through the passage on the right. After clearing the initial ghouls, start climbing the rocks and you'll reach an area where an ashbeast is (follow the purple glowing crystals). You'll also receive 400 experience.Įnter the waterfall at #3. When you reach the waterfall, Patty will leave the party and guard the entrance to make sure nothing comes behind your back. Their level 3 lock chest doesn't contain anything specific (112 coins, a bone and a golden candlestick). At the encampment on the way ( #2), you'll meet a group of lizardmen with a high priest. She'll also say that the west coast is filled with lizardmen and that they aren't particularly happy.Īs you make your way to #3, clear out all the Saurians on the way. She'll want to help you out for helping her earlier, but since she had no idea where to find you, she just waited where you had an adventure last time. During your adventure to there, you'll also meet Patty, who'll help you out (you'll only find here there if you saved her in the second chapter). The titan boots are located at the hidden western Temple behind a waterfall. For one thing it's flexible to allow for multiple hops. I also think the "filter" approach makes more sense than having truly separate ssh-agent binaries running. * As I mentioned in the PR, I was able to reuse a lot of the existing code for the agent protocol that already is compiled into the client. * Filtering rules can be easily managed as. Ultimately I thought that something built into the client was better overall for a couple reasons: It wouldn't be as bad if there was a way to make the ssh client manage the lifetime of the agent process itself (similar to Prox圜ommand or something) And I definitely looked into building something like that. > Of course, you still need to run a separate agent for each security domain you wish to keep separate. Of course, this means nothing if your access to your shell on a trustworthy server is compromised, but wholesale discounting this is not helping people. Computers which are shared with multiple people (think of a family) may have users who aren't as careful.Ī shell on a trustworthy provider such as SDF may be safer as a place to store keys and from which to run ssh-agent, so this scenario shouldn't be discounted. Work computers may have nefarious software on them. Windows computers, for instance, aren't trustworthy in the long term. There are many scenarios where a physically local computer is only trustworthy for the moment, and where this could change at any time. Second, if you're going to exclude every server on which anyone else has root, you're essentially excluding all hosting (except colocation), since essentially that means all computers you don't physically manage. Guardian Agent is a sort of hack that allows the agent to know (a), (b), and (c) before deciding whether to grant or deny the request, so the user can set up policies like, "I'd like to allow `semi-trusted host x` to use to run "git pull from " when talking to `git server z`, but that's it." The basic ssh-agent protocol just doesn't have enough info to be able to do something like that.įirst, the author writes as if shell servers with multiple people don't exist. If requests are coming from a semi-trusted intermediary host, the protocol doesn't tell the agent (a) "what remote server is being authenticated to ", or (b) "what command is going to be executed?" It doesn't even really know (c) "what (semi-trusted) host forwarded the challenge and is asking to authenticate to the remote server?" (although this one you can approximate today by running lots of agents and giving each local ssh command a different agent to forward requests to). The basic story is that ssh-agent really just exposes a primitive of "please sign this challenge," which is useful locally, but the protocol wasn't designed to be forwarded. ObPlug for Guardian Agent, which is basically "safe" ssh-agent forwarding (and works with Mosh and SSH): |
